Max Sound, an audio security firm, has been awarded with a US patent for audio biometric security. Max Security first filed the patent in early 2014 wherein the device they wanted to patent was named ‘biometric audio security’.
The audio security firm announced on June 13 the USPTO, i.e. United States Patent and Trademark Organization issued patent number 9679427 for biometric audio security on MAXD IP.
John Blaisure, the chief executive for Max referred to the growing excitement over biometric security. The company, however, specializes in enhancing the feed audio quality on sources like iTunes and Spotify. They referred to their solution as a proprietary audio process that brings high definition sound to the fore by restoring compressed harmonics.
John was further reported saying, ‘I’m pleased to report this new patent being issued. Biometric security is one of the most talked about issue, and with the growing number of mobile devices, the need for consumer security using technologies like MAXD is higher than ever.’
Mentioned below is an abstract that further explains the working of biometric audio security.
A biometric audio security device comprises providing an input voice audio source, which is then enhanced in two or more dynamic and harmonic ranges by re-synthesizing the audio into a full range PCM wave. What’s also provided is a hardware key with a set of audio frequency identifiers whose frequency and amplitude vary.
Both the key and the enhanced audio input are then summed together and the spike set along with audio is then compared to the user’s signature to identify and verify the user’s identity.
The set of audio spikes is stored on a separate key device which is protected and plugs into the system. Moreover, these sets of audio are user specific. The system manufacturer determines the template.
The spikes are identified and devised using a technique called additive synthesis, along with a pre-decided value of harmonics. The identifiers include both negative and positive values wherein the frequency and amplitude are spaced in minute intervals.
