In Card Based Access Control System, a card is issued to an employee which holds a unique alphanumeric code. A unique code is assigned to every card which may match an employee’s company registration code and is strictly different for every card. this card is punched on the biometric machine and due to its unique code, the door gets opened as the code is on the name of that employee and this has been entered into the machine. Without this card, the entry would be restricted. Sometimes companies opt for both finger & card access if in case the employee forgets the card so he/she can enter the floor area with finger punch.

A Card Based Access Control System is a security solution that uses an employee’s unique access card to verify identity and control entry to authorized areas. Each card is assigned a unique code, and access is granted only when the registered card is successfully authenticated by the system.
Each employee is provided with a registered access card containing a unique identification code. When the card is presented to the reader, the system checks the card information against the registered employee data. If the credentials are authorized, the connected door or access point is opened.
A card-based system can help organizations restrict unauthorized entry, manage employee access, maintain access records, and simplify access management. It is particularly useful where organizations need a fast and convenient method of employee identification.
Yes. Card-based devices can be used for employee attendance as well as access control. Employees can use their registered cards to record attendance, while the same identification method can be used to control access to authorized areas.
Yes. Organizations can use both fingerprint and card authentication as part of a combined access control setup. This can provide an alternative authentication method when an employee does not have their access card.
Yes. Multi-door access control can be implemented using a suitable controller. Star Link’s Card Based Systems include an 8 Door Controller, which is designed to manage access across multiple doors from a centralized setup.
The card type depends on the specific reader or access control model. Star Link’s Classic Model supports different identification options, including Smart Cards and Proximity Cards, with configurations such as 1K/4K Smart Cards and EM Cards.
Star Link’s Card Based Systems include 8 Door Controller, Crony Reader, and Classic Model. The appropriate solution depends on factors such as the number of access points, card technology, workplace requirements, and desired system configuration.
Yes. Card-based access control can be integrated with physical access-control hardware. Depending on the configuration, Star Link systems can work with devices such as electromagnetic locks, turnstiles, flap barriers, and boom barriers.
The right system depends on the number of employees, number of doors, required card technology, security requirements, attendance integration, and the type of access points that need to be controlled. Organizations with multiple doors may consider a multi-door controller, while individual access points may require a suitable card reader or standalone device.
